N18 valve cover replacement

Hi,

My 2011 Cooper S has a leak all around the valve cover. I can't see oil pooling on the connection between the block and the cover but the block is stained with oil.

I'm looking to get a replacement valve cover and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with aftermarket ones or if it makes sense to get a replacement one from the dealer (much more expensive).

I can find a bunch of them in eBay but I don't know much about these brands and how they perform with time. Does anyone have any experience?

Thanks!

I would love to the ECS part but the thing is that I'm based in Europe and I believe that delivery costs will be high (given the size of the part) and the time to get it here will be at least 2 weeks.

Just replace the valve cover gasket, it's much cheaper. I just changed mine out this past weekend along with a new PCV diaphragm. 2011 Cooper S

That's something to consider for sure. I'll take a look at the website then.

Where did you get the gasket and the PCV diaphragm? Are they OEM?

ECS has a good selection of valve cover gaskets. I also buy from Pelican Parts, Way Motor Works and a few others. To be honest the PCV diaphragm came from eBay.

Sorry, bumping an older thread but any more thoughts on after market rocker covers?

I previously tried changing out the PCV and cover only, and the car ran terribly with the aftermarket PCV. Had to put the old one back (with one snapped clip) and it's been OK for two years since but I've still got a chirping noise at low revs and it's either the PCV or a pulley.

The ones we have are good. Make sure you get the ones from us and it was installed correctly.

Sounds like the pulley. When it chirps,.

I got a Uro Parts brand one for my 2012 and it worked perfectly fine.

After ten years the original PCV diaphragm was pretty darned shot. Should've replaced it sooner, I think.
