Was Mini sloppy with R56 trans stickers? Anyone have/seen a red MTF94 one?

i have a 2007 Cooper S hatch and i'm in the middle of replacing entire subframe, arms, bushings, axles, etc while swapping the dms and clutch, but then i noticed the yellow LT-4 trans fluid sticker on my trans and LSD is listed on my build. i've had lots of LSD experience so i'm almost certain its in there and theres no way i wouldn't have noticed, but whats with the sticker? did they just have the different stickers on r53 or what?

Only red sticker i can find online is from a pelican parts clutch tutorial. Just seems very odd. Please let me know the year and model r56 you have if you happen to have one of these seemingly rare stickers.

*Posted here instead of the "problems" section. Hoping at least a couple people had similar experiences. I saw someone post the similar thing about diff fluid where 2 dealers said he needed mtf94 but he saw the LT4 sticker when going to fill and then used that instead....if Mini does/did this some or all of the time, then that would make sense, but then he's probably using wrong fluid now too.

Any chance your transmission has been replaced?

On a side note: BMW stopped using stickers in 2008 or 2009 anyway. I'd use BMW MTF LT-4 (75W-90 GL-4) even though your transmission does have the LSD.

Early MCS with LSD are factory filled with MTF94, however these are also happy with BMW MTF LT-4 75W-90. MTF94 is pretty much outdated and hard to obtain these days anyway.

I had my transmission off a couple weeks ago, and my memory tells me that sticker was white. It also wasn't on the bottom, but on the side towards the radiator. Never even knew there was a sticker on the gearbox until it came out...

Found a picture! You can just make out the sticker on the bellhousing, all covered with schmutz:

Or, maybe you can't...

Didn't know they stopped putting stickers on there altogether. I mean my trans part number and vin both say mtf94, yet they put that lt-4 sticker on there. Old school bmw never would've been so dumb about it.

Regardless, I think I'm just going to go with what OS Giken recommends for transaxle applications here, the Motul 300 limited slip fluid(75w90) and call it a day. It's just confusing as hell but probably doesn't matter a whole lot if you change it often enough and it's an LS fluid. https://osgikenusa.com/blogs/tech/us...il-and-os-250r

I've had Redline MTL in there which I've used on all my previous manual bmws, but def not running that on the refill. Was a bit crunchy if it sat a while and in extreme cold I think.

**went with the Motul 300, not the "300 LS" as that seems to be what Detroit Tuned uses for OS Giken. I'd assume the LS one probably means clutch-type diffs, but maybe that's also a point of confusion. Maybe I'll email or call Motul or OSG one day but I'm sure it'll be good enough.
