r56 JCW coilover questions
so I recently bought an 09 JCW, rear shocks are beginning to leak and since I want to upgrade any way I think ill go to coilovers. that being said what all do I need to buy to install them? camber plates? strut braces? ill be going to the track once or twice a year but will mostly be running some back roads around North San Diego. will most likely do the rear sway bar at the same time. thoughts on the KW v2 from way motor sports? https://www.waymotorworks.com/kw-var...r55-56-57.html
any advice is appreciated, Thanks!!

I have the BC Racing. I believe they have an entire kit that comes with camber plates. It’s a nice setup. They are a little stiff but I haven’t messed with the settings too much on softening/stiffening them. I don’t think camber plates are required unless you are making adjustments constantly at the track or going once a month and wanting to go from street to track setups

If you go with the KW coil overs, they use the stock rear shock mounts, but get the PowerFlex rear shock bushings:

In the front, you can use OEM front shock mounts, but you'll be limited in what you can run for camber. If you can swing the cost, Vorshlag plates are probably the best you can get. (make sure to ask Way Motors which set you need for the KW coil overs) IE adjustable mounts are probably a close second.

I would consider ST XTA’s in your search. If I remember correctly, ST is a subsidiary of KW and the XTA’s are essentially KW V2 adjustable struts with galvanized bodies instead of INOX stainless steel, have V3 style straight springs, and Clubsport style adjustable front camber plates.
I installed a set on an R53 about 7 years ago and have been really impressed with them. They only have 15K on them, plus 1 track day, so I don’t have a lot of info on durability or if the adjustable mounts will eventually get noises or start clunking, but the galvanized vs stainless bodies haven’t been an issue since my MINI isn’t a daily driver.

For sure add some front Vorshlag camber plates as they will allow you to add the extra camber you need to save the tire. A MINI without camber is a tire eating machine.

I would also do rear lower control arms to dial in the rear alignment

And for sure a rear sway bar
https://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-rear-sway-bar.html
This is all the exact same setup I run on my daily driver clubman JCW as it works great daily, but when I want to lean on it I can out corner about anything.
