How do you go from having misfires to deciding the valve cover needs to be replaced?

What is the model and year of your car?

P1497 is an air leak downstream of the throttle. My guess is the PCV pipe that goes from the cam cover tot he manifold is cracked. They are made from cheap plastic that cracks with age.

The other codes are related to mis-fires, which could be a result of the cracked PCV hose. I would replace the hose, clear the codes, and see how she runs.
