Potential turbo issue

Hey guys. My MCS just hit 70K. I'm thinking the maybe the turbo on the way out. It idles perfectly fine with no smoke cold or warm. Acceleration is pretty flat up until 4-5K and a little higher in lower revs. When I do give it a bit of a welly I get a noticeable puff of smoke out the exhaust, I also get a puff of smoke after cruising in neutral or press the clutch in for a bit ie. Going down hill. After sitting in traffic the acceleration can be worse and get the occasional judder before the power coming through, feels like the engine is clearing its throat, thats the best way I can explain it. I've had new valve cover, spark plugs, ignition coils and also had the timing checked around 6 months ago. Oh oil consumption is noticeably more. Thanks for any help
