Defenders of Speed Intake Template

Hi,

Does a template exist for cutting the hole in the bulkhead when fitting the DOS intake? If not does anyone know how big the hole is meant to be?

Hi, When I installed mine I found someone else's install pictures and used them as a guide.

there were enough reference points to get close. I started small and reamed the hole until the seal and housing fit correctly.

the hole was larger than I expected to install the seal in the firewall and fit the intake.

If you send me (PM) an email address I can send you the pictures I used and of mine installed.

I still have the full instructions uploaded at the link below. It has 2 sets of measurements depending on which model you have.

oops, I forgot there were 2 types

the type that chrunck has and the type I have that looks more like a K&N Apollo

so I guess it depends on which one you are looking for.

either way one of them will help you get it installed

Oh right I couldn't remember if the older version was for the R53 or R56. Like you said, hopefully he'll be set either way.

I've got the K&N Apollo version... just having fun with the Alta aluminium intake pipe that came with the intake at the moment... looks like I've been supplied with the JCW version and I have an S so the turbo inlet is smaller.

Alta suggested either sleeving the turbo or fitting a JCW turbo. The joys of using American parts brought in Germany and being fitted to a UK based car.

Very curious of where did you manage to find this intake. i thought DOS is closed and you cant find one anymore
There are 2 versions?
V1= Straight pipe filter
V2= Curved and sits where AEM goes

Any idead if which of those two performs better?I guess V2?

is there any source i can find any?
Thank you
