Upgrading Head, bent valves

Believe I bent some valves. Needing some advice on what I should go with. 11 JCW with N14. Was in the middle of a stage 2+ with Lou when I spun the crank bolt. Running methanol injection. Going to rebuild the head and I've been looking and it seems like there is only a few options for valves and parts for it. Mainly from Supertech. It seems like I could either go stock, or Supertech. Does anyone have any experience with them or any other suggestions that I should be looking at? Do you think stock is sufficient for my build? Not looking to do Camshafts at the moment. Sticking with stock there.

Thank you

I went with the valves from FCP Euro. When you get the head to the machine shop, make sure you tell them the valve seats tend to drop on these heads and request they "stake" them in so they don't fall out.

Did you replace the guides or anything? I see there is brass and looks like steel too. Just curious what everyone is doing. I thought steel went away a long time ago?

I'm taking the head to a BMW specified shop where all they do is BMW and Mini. So I'm hoping they know what they are doing and are familiar with this altogether. But I'll keep that advice in mind. Thank you

I can't remember if the shop replaced the guides, but a good shop will check them and replace them if they are out of spec. In my case, I know they replaced all the valves, valve stem seals, and all the springs checked good. They also took .004" off the deck.

Keep in mind you will have to strip the head down before you take it to the machine shop, and then reassemble it when you get it back.

Ok, thank you for all the information.

Did you have it cleaned as well? When you say to strip it, you mean just the cams right? Leaving the valves and springs intact. Did you supply them the valves and seals? Do you have a rough estimate on cost for the machine work? Why did you have them deck it? I feel that may be unnecessary. Sorry for all the questions! I'm used to old chevys and LS motors lol

Shops always clean the head before and after they work on it. No, I didn't mean just cams. Camshafts, lifters, tappets, VANOS springs and stands, (I don't remember if the N14 has VANOS). VANOS solenoids, servo motor, bearing bracket, vacuum pump ... the works. Yes I supplied the shop with the valves and the valve stem seals. I think my total bill with the machine shop work and the cost of new valves was $450.00. As I said, they took .004" off the deck.

Maybe take a look at Thumper Heads?
https://www.thumperheads.com/
I had aTPR1 on a R53, ran great.
And I have about ~2 weeks on a N14 head I had him refurb/port.
So far runs strong.

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! I reached out to them! What did you end up doing and what are you running on the N14? I see they offer a few options when it comes to valves.

I have just started down the slippery slope ....
The head is all I have done so far.
I went with the base option on the head, tpr1.
Picked the car up as a non runner, slipped timing.
no bent valves.

On the r53 had the tpr1 head, adjustable cam sprocket, downpipe, ic, sc pulley, intake, dyno tune, etc ...
Ran really nice.

Ah sounds good. The tpr1 is ported and polished? Do you know if the $700 core charge is included in their price or is it on top of the 1700 price?

The core charge is if you want to use one of the heads he has on hand for quicker turn around and then you send your head in as the core.
I wasn't in a hurry so I just sent him my head, cost me about 110$ to ship from Colorado.

I didn't add any options.
When I got the head back it had TRP1 stamped on it.
So making the assumption the 1695$ is the TPR1

He is very nice and knowledgeable.
Usually responded to my questions within a couple of hours.

Awesome! I will wait to hear back from him. Hopefully today. Will be pulling the head tomorrow and monday i am going to take it to a couple places and get some quotes. I haven't been able to get a quote from anyone yet so I'm not sure what to expect. My assumption would be around 500 but last time I had some chevy heads done, it was about a grand. So we will see! Thank you for all the info though! I would really like to have them ported and polished too.
