Sport Mode Fail

Put my 13 S in Sport mode today and stomped on it. It sputtered and popped and went into reduced power mode and I got a low tire pressure message! After shutting down shopping and restarting the low power mode cleared. When I got home I checked the tires and they were all at 29 - 30. Aired them up and it cleared the tire warning. Now Im afraid to use Sport Mode. Does it do that if tires are low? Or is this an unrelated problem. I will hook up the scanner tonight and check for codes. It had always started popping on decel after running Sport mode for about 5 min.but ran fine until this incident. Running fine now but have not tried Sport mode again. Any thoughts are welcome!

Popping on deceleration is normal operation in sport mode.

Likely one of your coils pharted and that is what threw the code. What did the scanner tell you?

Understand, but this happened when I accelerated hard in sport mode. Have not scanned it yet, just had cataract surgery so will be another day or two before I can get to it.

update, happened again but not in sport mode. Misfire codes. Checked each coil one is dead. Swapped it to confirm so ordered new Bosch coils from Amazon next day delivery. Swapped out coils and no more issues.

Keep the other coils as spares.

For the same reason most cars have a spare tire. You'll have a replacement in a pinch, at least until you can get your Amazon delivery.

I just did all four with BavAuto Coils. Once one goes bad the next will go bad soon on the OEM ones. Heat cycles kill the life on the OEM ones. Keeping an extra one on hand helps. Most VW guys replace them like oil changes, its a bigger problem on that side.
