rest service indicator after oil change

2007 Mini R56 Hatchback

I plan to change oil in a day or two and every time I change oil, I struggle with resetting the service indicator because I find online at least three different sets of instructions.

My R56 has a key fob instead of a key, so, the instructions that say "Turn the ignition key to the first position" don't do me any good.

After my previous oil changes I fiddle around with the button on the end of the turn signal and the odometer rest button and eventually get the indicator reset.

Anyone have simple instructions for the 2007 R56 Hatchback? Thanks.

I just ignore the damned thing and change oil when the odometer shows the last four numbers as 5000 or 0000.

Just in case it may prove to be useful: "IGNITION ON" can be achieved on 2nd generation Minis by inserting the fob and pressing the Start-Stop Button twice without depressing the clutch (manual transmission) or the brake pedal (automatic transmission).

Here's the instructions the work on my 2012:
  • Start the car and wait for the service info to go out
  • Then press and hold the right button on the display
  • The first service item should appear after 10s on the display.
  • Release the odo-reset button and hold the button on the light stalk
  • Now "reset?" should appear below the service item
  • To reset, press AND keep the indicator stalk button held once more
  • During this time a clock will appear. Some seconds later the procedure is complete
  • Repeat for all service items you want to reset.
