Car alarm goes off while car is unlocked
2009 Cooper S
6-speed
117,000 miles
My car doesn't get used a lot and right now it gets used even less.
The car alarm has been going off while unlocked just sitting in the driveway. So it currently sits with the battery disconnected.
I've sent the CAS unit off to be checked out and it wasn't acting up for them.
What would cause the alarm to go off while the car just sits?
Thank you.

Check all 3 harnesses to the FRM module(footwell) located underneath the dash on the left side of the car by unplugging them completely and plug it back in. The module does all the controlling of the doors and locks and may have been exposed to moisture .

My guess is a bad tilt sensor/siren?

Ok, I started doing some research on that. Maybe you'd know, would there be any issues if I just unplugged / removed the sensor / siren or would something down the line depend on the equipment being there and working?
I'm not worried about having a working car alarm.

If you unplug it, its would have no siren for sure, i dont know if that kills the full alarm for lights flashing.
