Timing question
2007 mini non-s
timing chain was done by PO. Wouldn't start.
Removed valve cover and see that the intake cam was 180 off.
Locked crank with exhaust cam in correct position. Put exhaust cam lock on, removed tensioner, removed cam sprocket on intake cam, turned cam and locked in place.
Based on video I found the sprockets go on in any orientation...is that correct? I don't see any marks or pins, that the sprocket would lock into. Wanted to verify correct install of cam sprocket before testing compression.
Once that's figured, I'd do the following, is this correct?
- install cam sprocket and snug bolt but also sprocket to turn still- tighten tensioner
- tighten sprocket bolt
- remove locks on crank and cams-rotate several times to make sure locks still go on easy
