R56 Trunk lock warning light.

Trunk lock warning light.
Beginning of November my dad and I replaced my trunk lock actuator. On the 10th, we replaced my tailgate handle. Everything was fine for a while until whenever I drove, my tailgate open warning light came on. When I stopped moving, it'd go away. Driving again, back on. On the 20th, I discovered my battery was dead. Charged it up, dead again when I checked on the 27th. We've been going back and forth on what could be draining it. Now we think it's the trunk lock actuator. We've disconnected the electrical connection, my dad test drove it after replacing the thermostat housing and the warning light came back on while it's still disconnected . Anyone know why it's doing that?

You might wanna check your GROUND connection. Eventhough you never touched it, it always good to check for looseness, and corrosions. Also, check the wire harness on the FRM module(footwell) located on the driver side kick panel behind the trunk release. Minis are prone to have corrosions on the terminals.

Were you able to troubleshoot the problem as I have a similar one? I ordered a new latch assembly from Amazon hoping that will solve my problem. From the research I have done the micro switch inside the assembly grounds when the latch is in the closed position. I am not sure if the points in that switch get dirty over time.
This is the micro switch I am referring to.
