Mystery hose- At least it’s a mystery to me.

I noticed today that on the drivers side of my 2013 Cooper S was a hose that I guess to be a breather hose.One end is not connected. There was no filter on it and after an exhausting web search and pouring through diagrams I am still stumped. Car is running fine with no codes. To be honest I have no clue what it is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Pic below

@Taygrd
Was the vacuum present while the car is running?

Need to get under the car and find out where it goes. That picture isn’t very good for figuring it out….

That looks like the vent for an automatic transmission.

Thank you all for you responses. I was stumped. Does it need a filter or is it okay just to have it an open tube?

It's always meant to be an open tube.
