Oil/gas smell on oil cap

Went to check my oil level it seems when i pulled off my the oil cap on the top of the valve cover there was a gas odor on the bottom on the cap. Going to take it to a shop next week just wondering any ideas on what it could be or is it a common thing for minis?
No white smoke from exhaust, and nothing feels like it changed engine wise either.

Absent any untoward engine behavior that suggests a leaking or malfunctioning injector gasoline in oil is normal. After a cold start some gasoline gets into the oil (along with some water). But then with use the engine/engine oil gets hot and gasoline (and water) boils out and is removed. But to get the engine and engine oil hot can require some use. Short trips won't get the oil that hot. And not only the oil must be hot but the entire engine so the fuel (and water) vapor that comes from the hot oil must remain vapor until it passes through the crankcase ventilation system and enters the intake manifold.

With other cars with digital coolant and oil temperature gauges I have found driving on surface streets gets the coolant and oil hot and keeps it hot.
