Retrofit Set JCW Sportbrakes coding ABS
hello, I changed the braking system on a Mini r56, a front and rear jcw braking kit was assembled, does anyone have done the update part on the ABS to increase braking power to work with the jcw system? because in the retrofit of the braking system of the jcw it speaks in programming

Flashed at the MINI dealership level to dial back the ABS. I thin its a 1 hour service flash.

Locating BMW Tools with current daten files and/or ISTA-P is not that difficult. Installing and configuring them however is not a simple task. In order to flash the ABS module you will also need an ICOM adapter. Having an Indy shop or the dealer flash the ABS module would cost you probably a third of what the ICOM adapter runs. Then there's your time learning to use the software, plus a mistake on your part could brick the module.

Not that i know of, unless you get that file and hack software.

Can't help you with that specifically. But having used both NCS Expert and Bimmergeeks ProTool my experience is that the latter can do all the same stuff, just a lot more easily. Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure all the braking settings were accessible in ProTool.
There was also at least one module that I was having trouble coding using a cheap K+DCAN cable: apparently some of them struggle to code the modules with a lot of data. Bimmergeeks said that they did some firmware changes on the cable they sell to help solve this, and it coding did in fact work reliably with their cable.

Yea, dont know if its a connect thing or a program thing. I guess you can always drive it to MINI dealer and get it flashed.

So after much research, I think I can code the JCW brakes on my R58 S with NCS Expert.
I had heard Bimmergeeks Protool could do it but, after fiddling with it for about 2 weeks, it still wasn't able to read my VO. If it can't read the VO, it cannot code. All the other apps/programming software I have connects no problem (INPA/ISTA/NCS Exper/BimmerCode)
I found $102 is the vehicle order for Verstärkte Bremsen (translates to Reinforced brakes). I am going to add it to my VO then do a "factory reset" to the DSC and compare changes afterward. I don't think it is any ABS setting but the DSC functions that are actually changed.
I will follow up this weekend after doing so.

Well after trying many things, so far no luck.
$102 isn't the correct code. I got that from a Bimmer page. The correct code is $PBR. The problem is when I try to add that to my VO, I get an Error "Following feature is invalid for FA: $PBR
I have tried umpteen ways to do it and still will not take.
I know I can add/subtract from the VO as I have subtracted my rims, added the R112 and $522 for the Xenon lights.

It's the "never admit defeat" in me that has kept me from doing that. If I do, it will be the 1st time my Coupe has been to the dealer since I bought him. Since I want to get him back on the road, I think I am going to.
I am checking with an European car shop Monday 1st. See what their rates are and if they can do it.
Protool was supposed to be able to make the change but I couldn't get it to read my VO. I tried everything to get it working and couldn't. I requested and received a refund from them.

SUCCESS!
While watching the NASCAR race today I was doing a bunch of searching. I finally found a Bimmer page that someone had programmed the SPBR code into their E series with Protool and verified changes with to the DSC with ISTA. He also added a screenshot of his VO. This is where I finally got my break! His VO had it listed at the very end as +SPBR. I have +KCBS at the end of my VO. I went out to the car, edited the VO, added +SPBR, clicked OK and no errors. Wrote it to both the CAS and FRM then factory reset my DSC.
I haven't verified the changes in the DSC from stock to the update yet. I do know it did something as I had reset my DSC to stock a week ago and didn't notice any lights in the Tach. When I did it tonight, the ABS and another lit up while it was coding.
