No communication with SZL
2009 Cooper S R56
118,000ish
6-speed N14
Just replaced the original clutch and flywheel. Went with OEM hardware. I got it back together and it drives, at least into Rev, 1st, and 2nd. I'm having an issue with the steering sensor (Dynamic Stability Control light along with yellow brake light). I tried reading the steering module with my scanner and it just says "communication error..." Then I tried using Tool32 and that also gave my an error. Oddly enough, no check engine light.
I've double and triple checked the connections at the steering rack.
Now I don't have a good feeling about this. From my understanding the switch is in the steering column. How can I troubleshoot this without just blindly spending money on more parts?
Is it ok to still drive the car while I work on this issue? I know something like hill assist and drive control will not be working, but will it make anything worse?
Thank you
