Can I swap base hood for S hood on 2011 r56?
I have a base cooper with a dented up hood, need to replace it. Can I just get an 2011 S or JCW hood? are they otherwise the same apart form the scoop? What year range is compatible?
It seems like they'd be interchangeable, I'm just curious if there's any issues I'd run into along the way. I'm surprised I didn't find an existing thread that already answers this haha
I found one scrap yard nearby has a 2010 cooper S convertible that would sell me the hood for $50, if that would fit my car, I'll do it today

2006 hatch and up to 2008 for a cabrio is still 1st gen. The overlap between generations due to the cabrios often causes confusion with part listings.
You can check on a site like realoem.com, but the hoods from an R57 cabrio, R55 clubman, R59 roadster, and R58 coupe might also be the same as the R56.

Got an S hood and bumper! Time for those NA upgrades
I got this hood from the scrap yard off an 09 convertible for $55, perfect fit! It has some scratches to touch up but its otherwise in great shape, ez swap without help. Soon I'll make a custom duct and air box for ram air i take, thanks everyone!
I also snagged this back bumper. They had right color bumper on the 09 convertible i got the hood from, but they smashed it moving the car, so ill just paint this one down the road. Will be running a straight exhaust with a custom muffler so the centered exhaust port was necessary.
