Central locking system and turn signal malfunction

Hi,

After jump-starting, the driver's door can no longer be unlocked with the central locking system, while all the other doors work fine. Additionally, the comfort turn signal feature only works about every 30 drives. So, it almost never works, but every once in a while, as if by magic, it does.

I have read about a defect in the FRM unit, but the description of the problem is usually clearer in those cases since more things are usually defective, like lights, etc. In my case, only part of the issues are present. Does it make sense to send the FRM unit for repair? Could this be the problem? How can I find out more about this, is there a way to "read" this out?

The same behavior occurs with both keys, and I can no longer access the menu for the comfort turn signal:

Thank You

Mini R55, built in 2008.

It's likely that the jump start created a voltage spike that corrupted the FRM software.

Once the FRM software is reprogrammed, I would highly recommend that you make a habit of removing the 4 FRM fuses behind the passenger kick panel prior to either disconnecting, reconnecting, or jump starting the battery.

Just found out it's a FRM2 Module, are they also known for this issue?

I believe that all 2nd generation BMW/Mini FRM types are susceptible to software corruption by voltage spikes.
