Dipstick that is Easy to Read

Gen 2 owners over the years have always complained about how hard it is to see the oil level on the stock dipstick.
There have been options before that were like long flimsy springs with metal handles that just still were not great, and expensive.
But now we have a simple old school flat metal stick like we are use to with old cars.

These will fit all Gen 2 MINIs R55 R56 R57 R58 R59 R60 R61 with N12 N14 N16 N18 engines.
If you have one please share your feedback, or if you got questions feel free to ask.

I bought one of this style, and can state it works very well. Huge improvement over the stock plastic end nightmare.

Just got one.
VERY easy to read.
Full on the WMW dipstick is
about 1/4” higher than on
either the stock dipstick or the
Craven dipstick.
Not enough of a difference to
matter, and have no idea which
are a little lower reading and/or
which are a little higher reading
than “actual” full status.

How's it compare to the Craven dipstick in terms of ease of use? The Craven is way better than stock but I find even it can be a bit tricky sometimes, like when the oil is still clean.

I have one of this style, and a Craven style as well. IMO, the Craven is a bit better/easier to read; this one is easier to work with. If you think the Craven is difficult to read when the oil is fresh, this won't be better - although it is easier than the OE.

I think it’s easier to read than
the Craven, which sometimes
picks up some side-oil due to
its wider diameter.
OE is a very distant third (duh).

I don't know how you view the Craven dipstick, but the way I use it is to hold it up to the light and see the level by which holes are filled with oil. This new flat style dipstick seems to smear a bit so it's not as accurate, IMO.

I just received the two I ordered earlier this week.

With the ends lined up like this ....

The other end looks like this ....

The high side lines up nicely, but the low side ... well, at least it will get you to add oil sooner.

As for visibility. This oil has 146 miles on it. I serviced exactly 4.5 quarts (book spec is 4.4 quarts). With the new dipstick, it was indicating 8 ounces low. I added 8 ounces and I was exactly on the H line. It is easier to read this dipstick compared to the factory and the Craven Speed version which I installed in my sister-in-law's R56.

I sell the Craven also, but it's like a limp noodle putting it in and out, and can be stretched. Along with the handle being metal it gets too hot to touch. That is why this new clear view one is much better, along with also being more affordable. No downside to it.

I had the CravenSpeed dipstick for all of two days. Hated it, and didn't think it read any easier than the OEM. This one looks like what the factory dip should have been.

I just placed my order. I'll post my pics and impressions when it comes in.

Received yesterday. To say that it is MUCH easier to read than the OEM seems like an understatement.
