Aftermarket RAdio/GPS
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S with low mileage and in mint condition EXCEPT the radio. It works fine, but if the temperature is above around 70 degrees, the LCD display blanks out so I cannot see anything whatsoever there. I researched getting a replacement LCD screen or even as new/used identical radio with CD Boost, but did not like those options. So, I am wondering if anyone on this forum has replaced the whole unit with an aftermarket android or carplay radio/GPS system hopefully with Sirius Radio capabilities. If so:
What brand/model did you use (with a link if you have one)?
What functions did you lose, if any? I know there are configuration information with my system. I also have bluetooth, microphone, USB and aux inputs available, plus the single CD player (mine is silver, apparently there is also a black one)
Any help would be appreciated. I searched th forum and got old info about the LCD screen, but did not find anything about these aftermartket radio/GPS systems>

I'll say in advance that I don't have answers to your specific questions.
What I came into the thread to say is that the radio fault you describe is a good fit for a bad solder joint on the PCB or loose connector wire or pin. This may be worth looking into.

i did some research into this on my previous 2009 mini, i couldn’t find a replacement unit that fit into the current radio slot that have you apple carplay, the only option was fitting on onto the dash that sits there in the middle and running wires either through the speedometer in the middle or the air vents in the dash then connecting that to the corresponding parts
