N18 High Pressure Fuel Pump

Another odd thing between my 2012 S and the donor car 2013 JCW is the HPFP. Below is my 2012 fuel pump.

Now the 2013 JCW fuel pump

Is this the old style verses the new style?

According to realoem.com my Coupe has a build date of 10/2011. My donor cars build date is 11/2012

Top is early N18 with MEVD17.2.2
Bottom is Late N18 with MEVD17.2.7 (sometime 2012 production forward - I believe all N18 JCW.)

Not sure how far the differences go beyond ECU and Intake Cam.

Would be great to document exactly what is different and how.

Production of March 2012 (-ish) was the changeover to the new style fuel pump on the N18 engines

So my thoughts were this was going to be a backup engine for my 2012 Coupe, I plan on tearing it down and rebuilding it. In order to do so, I would need to replace the head in order to have the correct fuel pump and not have a dozen different things to change. Sound correct?

WOW! THX! Hadn't seen that thread previously.

Looks like more work than finding a "old style" head and rebuilding it. Since I have time, I can try and find one priced right or another donor car with the correct head/fuel pump if the price is right. These cars can be had reasonable at auction compared to buying an "unknown" used engine. It is still unknown but you have all the other parts as well.
