Good job Nik
Hey Nik, I just talked to a friend who just moved here from Bishop after living there for quite a long while (>20yrs.) He said that he had seen "new" BMW/MINI & Porche bringing their cars there before. He mentioned that somehow "they" like that town for "testing", maybe 'cuz it's pretty close to the high altitude snow and ... hot sizzling sand of Death Valley. :smile:

. Yes there are alot of different car companies that do testing here. High altitude, low altitude, cold and hot all within a hundered miles. The MINI/ BMW almost never cover their cars to camoflague, but most others do. Kia came thru a couple of weeks ago totaly covered Kia spies
MINI comes thru twice a year, I've seen all the models since they were first testing on 2001
I work out of lone pine and you wouldn't believe all the car ads they film there . So for living in the middle of nowhere I get to see some nice new cars now and then.

Wow Small World
Hey XS Mini,
I was born in Bishop in 1967. Lived there till 1982. Was just there to say good bye to my dearest grandmother who just past away. She and my grandpa moved there in 50's and build the Neighborhood church on South Street. We lived in the Back house right beside it. Then moved out to Sierra Grande, near wilkerson Ranch. Here are some pic's:

I can remember when my Dad took me out to the Alabama Hill to watch Lee Majors film an episode of Six Million Dollar Man... To a kid my age it was the most exciting thing I had ever seen.
Cheers::

Car companies do alot of testing here because of the high/ low altitude, hot and cold, all within a few hundred miles. The Mini guys said they also go to Colorado for the same reason. Once they leave here they usually head to the Nevada desert for some more hot weather testing.
The pictures are still there, if not check my gallery.
