You can not talk about MNI look-alike cars without this blatant MINI rip off called Nissan Be-1 which came out in 1989. I remember when it came out in Japan as a limited production model. You had to wait for a year or so to get it and they fetched a premium price in the secondhand market for a long time. It is interesting though, some of this car's feature could be found in our new 'real' MINI. It shows our BMW MINI is also a rip off of the original one.

Been around alot longer than the "new" minis. I had a City Turbo II when I lived in Tokyo. Very fun car (except in snow). In a whole, all of the Japanese standard sedans are that size, due to the small roads.

Actually there's another made by Daihatsu looks alot more like the mini. I would call that a copy cat. Let me see if I can find any pic. Here you go.

Of course the Japanese have been making tiny cars for a long time -

Honda 600 is cute in all varities
Coupe


Sedan


and there was even a 'vert
