R56 High temptation to buy now vs waiting for '07. HELP!
#51
I went through the same process, and decided to get an 06 (I am placing my order in 2 weeks). The first year of any major change has problems. Look at the April Consumers Report, and you will see that for many cars, the first year of a major overhaul is the least reliable, and the last year of a production run is the most reliable. I had a 1997 BMW 528i, which was the first year of a redesign. I had a number of problems with it, and based on the Consumer Reports polling, so did a number of owners. Before they changed the design again, they had worked out all of the problems. That is the reason I want a 2006 instead of a 2007. While I think the Turbo vs supercharger will be a plus, and the car is expected to get better fuel economy with similar or better performance, I don't want to wait until 2008 or 2009 until all the bugs are worked out.
