Peugeot Reliability

So let's face facts here; the words Peugeot and reliability don't exactly go hand in hand here in the US. So with the new MINI range featuring Peugeot engines exclusively what has their reliability been like the past few years in Europe?

In my experience with newer peugeots back in NZ they are really reliable and the engines are great.
It is however incorrect to call the new engine a Peugeot engine. It was designed mainly by BMW engineers, parts produced by PSA and then assembled in the UK.

We're never going to get a clear liniage without having to mention half the globle when people ask where the MINI is from, are we?

As to Peugeot & reliability being an oxymoron, just when was the last time you heard British Motorcar & reliability used in the same sentence

LOL true enough. My 05 MCS was a pillar of reliability though.

With the spec sheet the new motor will have as long as it is reliable and well built I think it's going to be awesome. I really liked my supercharged lump but there is nothing like a free revving un-corked turbo 4 in an even lighter MINI.

Hmm ever notice the lack of LUCAS parts in the New MINI?

That could be the reason?

I can say from experience (don't ask) that the reliability of Peugeot CARS is very questionable; I've never had a problem with a Peugeot engine however.

That new engine isn't going to be all Peugeot...it has a lot of Citroen in it, too, and Citroen is a pretty reliable and popular car in Europe.

Twin Charge best of both worlds, I'm so close, one lil push & I'll do it, when I hear that Evos can put out 550 hp, well I just can't have that running around unchallenged

I believe that Peugeot & Citroen are now the same company.

The same company since May 1976. Can't wait for a Peugeot engine. Have had nothing but good luck with the engines on the 5 Peugeots I've owned in the past!

Totally agree with the thumbs up for Pug engines; They usually are the best things in Peugeots. I've had two and the engines were always sweet, but the car build quality was not always the best.

They must have found some leftover stuff and installed them in my 03 MCS. Hope they ran out when they got to my 06.
