Dates on these pictures

These have the exif information in the jpeg, they say they were shot on a D200 and the original file dates are from June 2006, but that kind of thing can easily be edited. That could mean there's even some minor tweaks since then.

in some of the pictures, it looks like the rear windows are smaller than our current model and have a wide blackout mat framing the widow....the rear windows aren't rectangular anymore as the height of the window gets smaller as you go more towrds the rear of the car

Also...Dual exhaust is gone or is that a MC and not MCS??

I think this was already mentioned a while back...but it appears that the dual exhaust is GONE and there are 2 pipes coming out of a single muffler? What are they trying to do....cheap...cheap...errr..... I mean chirp chirp!

BTW: THANK YOU for those links...nice shots indeed!

the two tips are still there (direct link to the big photo in post 18)

The stock R53 MCS exhaust does the same thing (two pipes coming out of the last muffler) Those two tips on the R53 exhaust are coming out of the same muffler. You should be happy with the new exhaust routing. It's a lot less convoluted.

You are correct. I have only had a Mini since March (actually 2...1st a used 03 MC...then got hooked and got a used loaded 04 MCS) The exhaust is partially hidden and it is so low I have not been completely underneath yet! Assumption is the mother of all $%$#@

(MUNCH...eating humble pie now!) !)..Just had a look....Maybe I will make a small change!

I think it looks really good. Everything does seem a tad chunky, but, they did have to compensate for the fact that the car is now slightly bigger. I'm sure once it's out and we can see it for ourselves, most everyone will love it.

You know the light that flashes "Mod me...Mod Me" if you know where it is...plz advise before this little guy breaks me!

I wanted to stay stock too

1st I cleaned out the Intercooler per another thread...Gunk City at 19,000 mi....So I have an OCC on order....Darn that light! It is now flashing Pulley and Cat Back at me! My servicing dealer has said that if I put a pulley on it and the supercharger goes bad...I am on my own...(rightfully so I guess)...They have been very good to me....have to go 120 miles to get to him!!)

I'm glad that I got the 2006

I would say that the 2007 is a step backwards as far as design. The new front lights being streamlined take away from its appeal. The new a/c controller seriously looks gay. The motor may be better though. It should get more gas mileage and have more HP. Though now it will have turbo lag which will suck.

Ha! You caught that one... guess we'll have to see it in person to see if it's just show (probably yes) as the intercooler is likely below the bumper. Hey, I could be wrong... Subaru arrangement????

I effing HATE the interior especially the speedo, and the boot...and the roof lines...I am sooo happy I have my royal grey '06.

the Headlights are cool...maybe the '07+ will do some retrofitting with the design because it really looks clunky as hell...especially from the back.

uuggghhhh... anyone up for offroading/4-wheeling with a MINI?

These will def need to be lowered and I can't stand the dinner plate headlights.

I know it is all a personal opinion, but for me, it just doesn't work...maybe when I see one in person...

im verrryy glad i bought an 05 MCS after seeing these pics!! I mean the interior looks real nice for sure, its smooth and flows real well...aside from the radio in the speedo i wud love to have that black and red interior in my all CR car right now!! the outside to me has really lost its character i dunno...ill just hafta wait and see what the aftermarket vendors bring to the table and how the new aero kit will look on this version!! one last thing....so many of us strive to black out our minis completely giving it that beautiful, sleek, mean, and classy euro styling but they just keep adding all these chrome bits to make it that much harder!! i dont get it!! i cant wait to graduate from school and go knockin on MINI's door for a job as a design engineer!! u guys wud def not be sorrryyy!! lol i can only dream but maybe one day....

Im sure at least 50% of those who initially dislike the R56 will flipflop once you've seen it in person. If not, well then hang onto your precious R53s, for there will less worries about dealer allotments for the rest of us...

Nice design evolution. Much classier car, esp. the interior. I dig the R56. Can't wait to trade in my 05 S, not for an 07, but an 08 or 09 after first year bugs have been addressed.

And the full 175 ft/lb torque range from 1200 to 5000 RPM? Sweet!! My right foot is twitchin just thinkin about this fun little fact.

Yes, and you get 192 ft/lb for 30 constant seconds over most of that range. For street driving and dyno pulls that's the number we will all be seeing and feeling.

All of the styling changes are super tacky.

A small list from just those pictures:

-C-pillar "aero" flare is tacky
-side repeator assembly protruding from the body...WHY?!
-use of chrome has gone from classy to "hey, WTF, why not?"
-goofy shaped sideview mirror looks like someone left it in the oven on its side too long and it melted.
-S rear spoiler center post is tacky
-rear lower reflectors on both models look like Pep Boys items.
-and the worst part of all is that they ruined the simplicity and elegance of the center speedo by adding the radio in the bottom half (although we should've seen that coming from the crappo, I mean chrono pkg available on the current model)

But I like the slightly tweaked S-lites that have the hubcap covering the lugs for a cleaner look ...there, I said something nice.

My point exactly. Many R56 "haters" (as per your sig) will beome R56 "lovers" once they experience the pull of the new motor. I'm not "down" with all the styling changes for 07, but the styling is insignificant compared to the promised performance--with better fuel conomy. Yummmm

I'm over tacky already and ready for more power, better gas mileage, and even a "turbo" turbo button for 30 seconds of increased boost........very cool.
