Thanks for the link - great pix. I'm making an official about-face and say that the new Mini's actually look nice - a nice update to the range and the interior more accurately reflect the parcel shelf look of the original. I am going to reserve judgment on the center stack with regard to material quality.

I am confused about the HP though...guess the rumors were wrong. now it is 120/175 ....less weight (not listed)?? Personally not being a racer but liking to corner, I like the weighty feel of my 04....solid feeling. Next trip to Sacramento should be after delivery of the 07...I will be sure to drive one of course!
I don't know...but one thing is for sure...I AM NOT A BETA TESTER!

Thanks for the big pics - I can see more details now, and I don't like what I'm seeing.
1. They managed to make the MC cuter! The black mesh grille on the MCS helps to dilute the cuteness, but I still think it doesn't fit well with the rest of the car. The blue car with white stripes and black grille looks like it was built from 3 different cars and mashed together.
2. The exterior details are very bulky, like a Toyota FJ Cruiser or something. The fender vents, black fender trim, S gas cap, and the chrome around the tail lights, fog lights and above the license plate all look chunky, like they're 10-20% over-sized. Kinda like a Playskool version of a MINI.
3. The rear bumper on the S is a mess of fake grilles, fog lights (or are those just reflectors?) and chrome. Plus the styling makes it look higher off the ground (I've said this before in other threads, sorry for being a broken record).

Who has been taking the MINI to an all-you-can-eat buffet?
I really like the interior because it looks even classier than the one I ordered. The seats appear to have more aggressive bolsters and better leather. The dash surface looks top quality, as does the steering wheel leather. The integration of the radio and speedometer is curious.
I'm sure I'll get used to the exterior, but it appears big and less refined. To me, this is a step away from the traditional MINI.
Despite the size increase, though, I believe the new generation MINI has lost 10 kilos (22 pounds). I understand the only increase in dimension is 2.5 inches front to back, mostly to accomodate the new engine mounting position, which is has its exhaust end turned forward, rather than rearward like current models. However, the skin around the rest of the car certainly looks like it's suffering fluid retention. Probably too much salt and carbs.
