the current issue of MC(sqd.) magazine has a lineup of test (still masked) cars that of which several are the "mello yello." i personally though LY was not as vivid as it should have been for a "look at me!!" MINI, but the new shade is.. well, i have no idea what they were thinking, it does seem to imitate that "rotting banana" color that vw has used for some time. so much for "innovation" on bmw's part...

Bamatt is right...that's the VERY first thing I thought when I saw the new yellow: SCHOOLBUS! However, perhaps some states will buy them to use as vehicles for Department of Transportation workers!

Liquid yellow will be sorely missed!

you mean there will be an even "shorter" short bus?

I hope Nightfire Red isn't too close to Solar Red. I like being different.

I like Mellow Yellow much more than Liquid Yellow. Always thought LY could use a bit more pigment. So yes, it's more of the supercar yellow. MY/B with black stripes would be a nice combo I think.

Still, I'll probably end up selecting a more conservative colour like dark silver or astro black.

The only thing that's upsetting me now is that DS is reported to be a late-available color on the MCS.

I took the wife's '04 MC out tonight, and I believe, that if they haven't reduced the knee-space in the '07, I'll be just fine with a manual transmission, contrary to my previous concerns.

So now I'm only worried about the color issue, and I'll have to decide whether Astro Black will suit me as a metallic. I'll be trying to convince myself that the metallic color will help with the Texas sun, and that it will look really good with window tinting film, which it would.

Per the UK spec sheet I'm reading... Pepper White #850, Dark Silver #871 and British Racing Green #A67 are expected to be availible December 2006. Since the spec process is supposed to begin October-November, I don't think it will be too far off from the other colors (two months, maybe?). On the other hand, the same UK spec sheet doesn't even list the darker Lightning Blue supposedly coming to the US market.

Oh, and I heard leg and knee room was sugnificanly INCREASED for 2007.

The part that I hate is that silver is not a roof color anymore. Astro Black/Silver was growing on me. And I also thought Bavarian Racing Green/Silver was nice also.

Other cars with the same-named color include:

http://gallery.mg-rover.org/data/519.../1dscf0144.jpg
http://home.ionet.net/~dpatton/siteb...g.w300h224.jpg

I suspect it will be closer to the Rover than the old Mini color, given that the Rover color was metallic, and the Rover/BMW history.

But...Nightfire Red will be MC only in the US.

MC gets Oxygen Blue, Nightfire Red as exclusive colors in the US.
MCS gets Laser Blue and Dark Silver as exclusive colors in the US.

Aren't MINI colors like the weather in Chicago? If you don't like what you have now, just wait around 5 minutes and it will change.

BMW need a good kicking over these tepid colours.
Two new ones that look promising - the deep red and Oxygen blue are for the MC only?!!! Surely that is backwards - the S should have these and not another hopeless silver. Almost enough to try and find a Space Blue 06 and cancel the order for the 07. Talk about not listening to your customers.

Bah, these colors are not inspiring. Any news of MCSC colors? The same? Different?

How much would a new paint job on a mini cost? Always that option, I suppose...

Apparently the new 2007 colors aren't all available now, but will be phased in over a period of months. Folks drooling over Nightfire Red may have to wait til the end of the year for availability, and who knows about Oxygen Blue? (I wouldn't be totally shocked if it was changed for something else.) We'll see...stay tuned!

So the 2 colors I'm most interested in, NightFire Red and Oxygen Blue...won't be available for upwards of a year?? Is Mini in the car-selling business, or are they some government run boondoggle?

I couldn't have said it better myself Redvaliant!

I too am sorely dissapointed that BMW/MINI chose not to include Space Blue as a color choice on the R56 2007 model!

I've been able to accept (overlook) some of the changes to the MINI that have resulted in the R56 but I thought that perhaps they would have been a little more liberal with the palette of color offerings. Three silvers? Why? Though the MINI looks handsome in silver (any shade) why offer three shades at the expense of different and or brighter, more lively colors?

I'm just marking time till I can order a 2008 MCS. Hopefully BMW/MINI will bring back Space Blue or shed the conservative color pallete they now seem to embrace in favor of some different brighter hues.

Then again perhaps I should be giving thought to finding an 06 MCS in SB...

No...word is they may be appearing at the start of '07, whereas some colors are available for orders now. Of course this is all based speculation, observation, and my reports from my advance ninja squad.

My old mini would just be a poser.

Haha "Bavarian Racing Green," that's so right on! one thing I wish they would've done is offer a non-metallic BRG for us Anglophile purists. I saw a new BRG Jag in CA last week and it looked so elegant. Maybe Ford knows something BMW doesn't....

Oh -- you meant the new one.

The closest we seem to have so far is this:

http://www.motoringfile.com/2006/06/...nightfire-red/

And it's MC only, not available on MCS.
