R56 Bov

a BOV is a blow off valve, typically on turbo charged race cars you will here them when they left of the gas and here a loud air discharge, but they have become popular with ricers, buying BOVs that are purposely made louder than they should be to replicate the sound. However, I love the sound of a BOV but only if accompanied by a built motor screaming.

A lot of stock applications have an internal BOV, both to keep the sound down, and also to recirculate the air at the correct timing. I would imagine that the new MCS will have this style BOV, though a high HP tuned version will almost undoubtedly run an external BOV and larger Wastegate, meaning you will certainly hear them when the boost needs to be removed.
I agree, that on the right application, a BOV just adds to the sound effects and helps make a motor sound powerful. Using a stock turbo with a huge BOV though is usually pointless and mostly for show/sound.

This engine will most likely have what is called a BPV ByPass Valve. It recurculates the air back into the intake stream. This helps keep up boost pressure during shifts. Also depending upon the sensor in the intake and its location it may be necessary to keep the engine running correctly.
This is different than a BOV Blow Off Valve. A BOV removes the air to the atmosphere or exhaust system. IF fed to the exhaust sytem it can lower exhaust emission readings but if fed upstream of the O2 sensor can thow it off.
