I am fully in sympathy with you. However, there must be a word for this kind of rhetoric. Of course, I believe the null hypothosis is the most popular.

I also agree that "refined" can be polite. It can also be real nice. I bought my MINI as a replacement for the MGA I was denied as a youth . . . but thank God it isn't an MGA.

Actually, there are several major reasons why I've never liked R53...reasons I'll keep to myself out of deference to all my buddies who drive them with great enthusiasm.

I've also had to come to grips with the fact that my interest in MINIs is probably legitimately more focussed on one particular model than another, so it's my "thing" not MINI's (or any one else's) "problem" to fix.

So if someone has a favorite...fine. Someday it may be considered poor taste to intentionally throw barbs at another model, but for now it seems understandable as we process the new kid on the block. Gotta pay your dues 'round these parts: the cabrio folks had to...the R53 folks should have had to (but there were too many of them)...the MCSa folks had to....and Lord knows the Clubman folks will definitely have to one day soon (if the Traveller Concept was any indicator).

I suppose one must applaud C4's diligence. I cannot believe he spent the effort to find this thread and rehash this issue 5 months after the last post.

Some advice for C4 is in order: Spend less time digging up dead threads and spend more time motoring.

True. Diligence or myopia, he is entitled to his opinion even if I find it to be unnecessarily bleak.

Actually, a few minor items mentioned I might actually agree with.
