Yes, but your better off just hardwiring it through the fuse box .

The answer is 2 posts above yours.

all of our cars come with an ash tray and a lighter, its an option in other countries.
the lighter would be your plug

All cars have the wiring and the electronics in place. In regions where the smokers pack is an option you get 2 front cupholders (instead of one and an ashtray) and a balnk plug where the lighter would be. If in doubt order the smokers pack. I'll replace the blanking plug (cheap plastic) with an aftermarket alloy one simply because it look better.

The only drink allowed in my MINI is W A T E R.... no sticky residue or stains if someone happens to spill it. Don't even try to bring any other drink, let alone food into my beloved Bergey !

But just for the record, I do like the bigger cup holder because some bottles of water do not fit in those tiny cup holders.

I thought the ashtray was simply an extra item that fit into one of the cupholders. And that it could be placed in any of the cupholders or removed at will.

It is, but I believe if you don't get the smoker's pack (where it is an option -- it's standard in the US) you don't get the little tray with a lid. The tray comes in handy for small objects.

Yes, I understand that for you folks in the U.K., you have to specifically order the smoker's pack or you don't get it. Funny how that works. One market you have to spcify it and in another it just comes without asking. As if a small plastic cup costs much of anything. Maybe they think we smoke more than people do in Europe. Or we need a place for coins.

It's a perception thing. Most manufacturers here offer smoking packs as an option. Wierd thing is that I am a smoker but did not go for the smokers pack to help prevent me smoking in the MINI.

The smokers pack is a no cost option so you can have it if you want. you can also buy the tray and lighter seperate if you wish. The main thing is that the 12v supply is left in the car.

Besides the 12V connection, I wish Mini would have also added an AC outlet. Many cars sold here in the U.S. are now addding those. Those are manufacturers such as Toyota that previously had only one DC outlet. Now, they have the 12V and a separate AC outlet.

I thought that was also a DC connection, same as the cigarette lighter.

I'm wondering if the console with the bluetooth prep has a 12V outlet of some sort nearby.

My 4Runner has a 12V in front where the ashtray would be, one in the back, and a 115VAC outlet /in/ the console, switched on the dash. So I use a regular wallwart to charge my phone in the car. As it's all in the console, it's completely unobtrusive.

Water makes an exception though. Otherwise, totally agree.

I'm not sure, but the phone cradle in the center console is supposed to have a power supply to recharge the phone.

First, I have to say that I think it's funny that drinks are so off-limits whiel driving. Drinks and eating are no-no's, but apparently lighting a stick on fire and inhaling is a-ok. Weird.

Anyway, with the bluetooth, does anyone know how the new kit works with the Motorola RAZR? I am sure the bluetooth works, does anyone know if the cradle charges it or provides the improved antenna? And anyone seen the armrest wth the Prep Kit installed? Does any room remain in it for storing something BESIDES a phone?

I am getting the SatNav, and I understand the display shows a lot of info when paired with a phone via bluetooth, but I'm new to the whole concept and implementation, so I'm curious as to what I should expect when I get mine.
