"Official" '07 Retrofit Thread!

Now that the '07's are just weeks away and we're seeing first auto show pics and beginning to get a good idea of what options available as well as how existing options have changed shape on the R56, this begs the question, "What can I install on my '06 or earlier model?" Anyone want to start a discussion / list of items that are possible retrofits?

I'd be interested in knowing whether the new side skirts will work on pre-07 cars.

not much... no body panel is the same. you could probably put the rear z axle on tho, as that's the GP setup.

i think pretty much everything else externally or internally is different.

That's debatable They could have done a better job with the gap between the bonnet and fender arches.

I'm looking into the turn signal stalks. I want to have an almost all black interior, and those will help keep the stock look with the black I am going for.

I also plan on recovering my seats at some point and when I do, I'll add some foam and stitch in the new "cod piece."

Oh, and the Aluminum rear suspension parts are almost a must have on my list!

I do like the door handle covers. And since those are available on the '07 Cabrios, I will go out on a limb and say you can fit them to the earlier coups also.

27hp? That's gotta be a downpipe that replaces the cat or something, because with an exhaust system as simple and free-flowing as the new MCS has, you won't see 27hp increases. Just my .02

Per Gert himself (chief re-designer)... it can't.

The engine bay of the old car, despite looking as if it has more empty space, is substantially smaller. Plus, the new PSA engine is a good deal bigger than the Tritec.

An engine swap just 'aint gonna happen unless you want to ruin any structural integrity of the car by pulling some Monster Garage body cutting stunt.

Some of the most promising retrofits will be those items added or changed on the '07 convertible, since it's basically the SAME car. Things such as the power folding mirrors would be excellent to get on my '06 Coupe!

I think the best retrofit you could do would be the tires!

Get the 2nd gen runflats. (unless you don't want runflats at all)

Okay, here we go again -- beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMO R53 and R56 are both very good looking cars. I think they are different neither is better than the other as far as looks is concerned in my opinion.
