R56 EPA Mileage Estimates.

EPA Mileage Estimates.
EPA web site now has posted MPG ratings as official for new 2007. Values are as in press release for manuals. In addition automatics numbers quoted as preliminary are now apparently final. For automatics they are
MC 30/37
MCS 27/34

I think these are with old estimate methods. New methods don't kick in until 08 model year. Still quite good though. I typically get close to estimated on highway and do a little better than estimated around town, which for me has some highway driving, so I expect the same with my MC when it arrives. If I had ordered a S, however, I might not do as well, just do to driving style.

I would think that the fuel economy improvement for the MC will be even better than these numbers indicate, because the EPA's laughable "highway" rating is done at speeds too low to utilize the new overdrive 6th gear.
What I'd really be interested to learn is what the new emissions numbers will be. It's all well and good to improve economy from 38 to 40, but they really have an opportunity to improve upon the mediocre emissions of the pre-2007 cars.

According to the following

If you look on page 21 and 22, the spec sheet for the MC and MCS versions of the engine, the quote the emmision standard as being EU4/ULEV-II. The EU4 is I assume European Union. If ULEV-II is the US spec, that is truly impressive. The tri-tec, is by comparison, a flithy engine. ULEV-II for LDV in US spec is not much dirtier than PZEV. (partial zero emission vehicle). If that is indeed what the link above implies that is really impressive.
Agree with comment about 6th gear. But it will get there pretty quick, depends upon your driving habit. I drove an 06 MCS with 6 speed auto and if driven in lazy fashion, will get to 6th gear about 60 mph, and can cruise around 2K rpm. When you push it though the adaptive nature of the trans will have it wait and get there later. I ordered MC with auto (in port at Charleston!!!) It's gear ratios are different, so I'm not sure what speed and RPM level my experience with 06 MCS will translate to.
