1. Could you compare normal/sport suspension with 16/17-inch wheels? My guess is that a nice setup would be 16-inchers (to keep some suppleness on bad roads) with sport suspension (to minimize body roll), but I have only read one review so far with that setup.
2. What do we get with the SS, in addition to sway bars?
How tall are you dwdyer? Please don't say you're 6'... I don't want to do the gangster lean either...
I sure hope that 6' isnt considered tall for a mini...i'm 6'4!
(i havent had any problems in the current models that i have driven...its actually more spacious in the drivers seat than most other cars i've driven.)
My one complaint with my currant MINI is that when I slide the seat back far enough for proper leg room, I have to stretch my arms out to grip the wheel.
Hi Dave, thanks for asking all of us about requests for news. As others have asked I would really like to know if we really have to wait until mid-Feb for delivery? My MINI has landed for over a week now but not to be delivered until the 22nd....
Since there were a number of items not available at time of ordering will they offer those items (like XM) at a good/discounted price after production?

Yes, you really have to wait. The earliest the dealers can sell the R56 is launch day, February 17th.
Here's a rough schedule of events in February leading up to the launch
Feb 3-5 Press Wave 1 and some Motoring Managers test drive the R56
Feb 6-8 Press Wave 2
then for roughly the next week after that, other Motoring Managers and some Motoring Advisors will be test driving the R56 and going through some R56 introductory training.
Just seems odd they are holding thousands of cars in the VDC's until Feb 17th.. No faith in dealers I suppose to hold them like the UK.. Really makes the dealerships have uneventful launches when they can't even guess what day they are getting them :(
To be clear, the dealers will be shipped cars prior to the 17th, but they are not able to sell them or do test drives until the launch on the 17th.
Okay then that answers alot.. I think the general consensus was that most dealerships would be shipped cars only a day or two ahead of time, thus not giving proper time for prep and final buffs. At the same time I wonder if they will ship with adaquate time to states in the midwest for a Feb 17th launch.. Hope so.
From what I've heard out here, dealers in SoCal may have cars as soon as the 12th. However, they are being instructed to keep them hidden away and out of the showrooms until the launch.
Just for info, see if there is any approximate figures available for the number of R56 customer orders that will appear on Feb 17. in US. (whats in the first wave).

February 17th: Launch Day in the U.S. for the R56
Thanks Dave. I have already paid for mine so I'm just waiting for the Launch so they get delivery! Thanks again!
Check the fit, finish and strength of the bonnet - with those lights cut out I'm thinking that thing will be misaligned as soon as you shut it the first time.
