Paying MSRP for all options?

Have any of you tried to negotiate for a discount on options? I realize the MSRP of the car may not be negotiable at this point, but what about all the extras?

Nevermind all the 'administration' and 'documentation' fees. Oh, and the nice fee for removing the plastic coverings off your car. Grr.

I had to 'negotiate' NOT having them add lowjack and paint protection to the car at a tune of $1500.
I'll consider myself lucky.....

Seems like Mini sells only for MSRP, my MA said thats why they can post their prices for everything online. I did get free carpet floor mats [which i wanted] instead of rubber. 100 dollar value, for free!

The carpet ones are actually more expensive from what I found. I have carpet for summer and rubber ones for winter. My rubber mats were about 55 for the front and then the boot mat was about the same but I got it for Christmas so that doesnt count!

So has anyone even asked for a discount on some of the options? I'd like to get say, climate control or hi-fi thrown in for free. :>

no way, factory accesories will not be discounted at all......Dealer installed accesories are a diffrent story. dealer installed stuff can be discounted but you will need good negotiating skills, and unless you are a returning customer it is tough to get anything more than mats

Also getting a break on the labor for installation is generally going to be easier than getting a break on the MSRP of the accessory.

[shameless plug]

I highly recommend everyone get their dealer accessories from Classic MINI. They offer 20% off all parts and accessories, not to mention they're awesome and totally rock! [and they sponsor NAM too]

Hmmm. Got $2250 off the final price. Don't know if you want to consider that a discount on the options or on the car. Probably a matter of semantics.

Hmm.. what a bummer. I hate paying retail for anything.. ESPECIALLY cars. I'll at least try to get rid of a documentation fee.

I don't even consider the possibility of paying less than MRSP...it's the MINI way. I'm just happy to not have a dealer mark-up!!

Now you can find discounts on '06s!!

I got the free mats (I think everyone gets that), $100 off the InvisiBra, and free window and sunroof tinting. Oh, and Art found me a jack. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Art at Mini of the Woodlands. Handled it all by email. Finally met him when the car was in. He did a great job of running through all the features. Their finance person did a great job too. My only regret was that it was a rainy morning today, so that the car was muddy by the time I got home.

BTW, love the Comfort Access. The punch leather if very nice.

MCS, CR/W, White Stripes, Red colorline, Punch Black Leather, HiFi, Sunroof, MFSW, Bluetooth, and other little stuff.

Military sales program overseas. Base price for an S through the program is $19,600. Options are retail. I was messing with the sales guy about the "real" savings though. They calculate it as $21,850 (U.S. MSRP +delivery) -$19,600 military price = $2,250 "discount". That's not entirely accurate.

The MSRP for a base MCS is $21,200. My price of $19,600 means I really save only $1600. I would have to pay $650 shipping if I bought in the U.S., but my price for delivery to Germany is $280. So with delivery figured in, I'm really paying $1970 less than I would @ U.S. MSRP.

The Army will pay to ship one car home, which will probably be the wife's RAV4. So I'll end up paying $900 to get the car to the States, which means I'm now only paying $1,070 less than the "delivered" price in the States (not counting dealer "fees" or other mark-up).

Hmmm, I'm not getting a good deal after all. I think I'll go cancel my order!
