These are from a couple weeks ago when we had an unseasonal warming (got to about 60 degrees at the end of December). I thought the fog was pretty cool.

Where is that taken? Tell me that's not your house in the background.

I forget how nice the driving lights look without the covers. Did you make the bow or buy it?

Glad you got the kit on, they sound so much better with a proper exhaust!

Yeah, I have refused to put those silly white covers on, so until I get black ones, she's going naked.

I admit, I bought the bow. It was worth the $5 in frustration it saved me.

See I don't understand the point of having driving lights and keeping covers on them....It makes sense that a rock will not break the lens if they are covered but then they are covered at night when you need them...

If I'm going to put covers on driving lamps everytime I'm done motoring, I might as well buy a car cover and put that on too while I'm at it!

Maybe I'll consider driving lights with a metal mesh pattern on them?

It is Meadow Brook Hall on Oakland University's campus.

Read about it here:

When I first got my car I never put the driving light covers on. However, after spending alot of time cleaning them I did start using them more. Most of my driving is in the city, where I wouldn't be using them very often. If I know I'll be traveling into the country at night I'll take the covers off.

This turned out to be a good thing. Last Thursday I was on my way home at night, wasn't paying attention, hit a patch of ice and ran into the back of a Pontiac G6. It wasn't that bad of a hit, but damaged both of our bumpers. The driving light covers basically shattered (it was around 2 degrees), but the lights were fine, not even scratched.

So in my mind, the covers aren't that bad. Just be sure to take them off before the photo shoot.

I leave mine covered for city driving and during the day. If I'm out at night in a place where I can use them, I uncover them. But most of the time unless I'm traveling in the "middle of nowhere," high beams and the driving lights aren't necessary. I can't say I've spent more than about 2.5 seconds per cover to install or remove. Seems easy enough for me.

I don't use a car cover, too many fine scratches.

Black cover part number is 63120432836

That is 1 cover, not a pair.

Wow all the shots on this page are great! Its cool to see how Minis look from different parts of the country.

Oh and just my opinion, I think some people like the way the lights look with covers on. I would just buy some clear protector film for them, but I could see how the covers could give the lights that civilized weekday, rally weekend look : )

Those shots look great -

In terms of driving lights, I'd probably wire them to a separate switch and typically use with the low beams...I'd just aim them down a bit.

Moxie, I really dig that second shot of the rear with the profile shadow on the wall!

Here's another shot of my R56 I took the other day while out motoring:

Thanks! I have that saved somewhere, I just keep putting off getting them.

90% of my motoring is without the lamps on, so it would be nice to have them covered. Generally, I know when I'm going to be motoring somewhere/sometime when I'll need them, so I just pop off the covers when I need them. The time it takes to put on and take off the covers beats the time it would take (not to mention the money) to replace a lamp.
