My smugmug gallery for the comparison has full-resolution photos.
If you look at this one (which is large), you'll see the PDC sensors.
The picture is not clear enough. I take it the sensors are in the black section? I'm thinking about changing my order, but I wanted to make sure there were not 4 big noticeable circles through the painted area. If the sensors are in the black area and not noticeable, I can deal with that.
Check and make sure IE or Firefox isn't automatically resizing the image. It's plenty clear enough to see the sensors. The image size is 2829 x 1281. If you're seeing both cars in the browser, it's resizing the image. Click on it and it may expand to be huuuuuuuge.
The sensors are the four round thingies in the bumper below the black area.
Here's a full-resolution photo, cropped to show half the bumper, with the sensors highlighted:
They're noticable, but not distracting, IMO. The fact that they're below the black bit helps consiiderably.

Thank you very much!!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. I tried my cpu at work during lunch and the picture worked much better than at home. The sensors are not as bad as most cars. I think I will add the option if I still can. I think it will be nice to go along with the nav.

This is a quote from the Mini book you can get at the dealership..."An acoustic signal (and a visual display, if the navagation system is also fitted) communicates the distance between the car and any obstacle to the driver."

In the three-quarters of a page that talks about PDC, it doesn't say anything about having a visual display. That's why I questioned whether that system is available for the U.S. market.
The U.K. also allows a TV monitor to be hooked into the navigation screen. That is illegal in the U.S. My conjecture is that the TV monitor might be related to the ability of PDC to appear on the nav screen in the U.K.

sewellman,
Although that is a posibility, I find it unlikley due to the fact that the tv tuner option logic would also suggest that the back up camera would not be able to use that ability however it is. I do not see any reason for there not to be a visual display with the NAv

The R56 I test drove had both PDC and Sat Nav - there was a graphical representation on the Sat nav screen as well as the "bleeps"

My questioning is based on the fact the U.S. owner's manual for the R56 doesn't say anything about the graphical representation. It only talks about the beeps.
