Would you buy the MFSW or upgrade to the 17 inch crown spoke wheels?. What do the 17 inch wheels do to the ride. Will it look better because of the larger wheels 16 to 17?. And lastly, I am looking at the sport stripes in the configurator rather than the traditional bonnet stripes. The price is $85.00 but it does not include installation?. If not, does anyone know what the dealer charges to apply sport stripes on the bonnet and rear hatch. Thanks again for everyones help. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I think I have decided on MCS pepper white, sport stripes and the only real upgrade over the base is the MFSW, or 17 inch crown spoke wheels or 10 speaker upgrade.

While I love the crown spokes, I think in the long run you'd appreciate having the MFSW. The benefit of having cruise control and radio controls at your fingertips will outweigh the "cool factor" of the crown spokes. (Even though they are super awesome).
Also, wheels are easier to change ex post facto.

$500 for a Limited Slip Differential plus it's a factory piece. This is one of the best items that MINI has in the configurator. It's pricey in parts and in labor to add this later on.
Stripes, Rims can be added later.
MFSW... hmmm, i personally can't live without mine.
I would go for the LSD in this situation

Pepper white is a great color...or lack of color.
On the '07 MINI I think 17" wheels are a must do.
If I could order a new car an LSD would be at thet top of my list...right Crashton.
And save your money for a good aftermarket GPS, you'll need it for those last minute long road trips. Happy motoring!

If I only had $600 for options on an MCS I would definitely go for the LSD. When I test drove an MCS last month it had minimal options, just the Sport Package and Rear Fogs that I could tell, and it still felt like a very complete car.
If you plan on spirited driving or any track/solo events, definitely get the LSD. If that is not your vision for the Cooper S, then get the MFSW.

As for the ever popular MFSW ...I have them in both of my current cars (standard equipment) and never use them. I actually don't like cruise control as I prefer to be more actively involved when I drive, even on long trips ...and the radio is at arms length, so no big deal to reach for it. However, I am very, very much in the minority on this one.

Everyone comments on how easy it is to speed in the MCS without even realizing it. More speed .. More tickets. Cruise control .. Fewer tickets.
But .. Consider this. Upgrading wheels is one expense, putting good runflat tires on those wheels is another. Together, they make for a pretty expensive later upgrade. Also, you may just want to visit Tirerack.com and check out the differences between the stock 16" Dunlops and the stock 17" Goodyear Eagles that go on the Crown Spoke wheels. Here are links to both:
http://www.tirerack.com/tire-12/Dunl...00A+DSST.shtml

My take: Find a way to get the money to purchase both upgrades. In the long run, your decision to buy both now will turn out to be the overall least expensive alternative.

If I were to pick... I think I would do LSD if you are into spirited driving, otherwise the MFSW. I heard the hi-fi and it did not sound much better than the standard.

I would get MFSW first, then LSD, then 17". I love cruise control, use it all the time, even for short periods just to stretch or rotate my ankle. Also with MFSW it's a little pricey to add it later. LSD would be very cost prohibitive to add later so that may be a good choice to get from factory. The wheels however can be added later and with other tires you might actually get them cheaper or very close to factory cost.

From what I've seen it's exactly the opposite. The 16s come with Goodyear, the 17s with Dunlop... the crown spokes are really nice though and make the car feel and look sportier.

But now I see that some MINI2 (Europe emphasis forum) posters also mentioned that they're finding the Goodyear Excellence summer tires mounted on their 16" wheels. Not yet sure what they're finding on their 17" wheels.

Definitely MFSW. I've had cars with cruise and without. Won't go without again. Also had a Nissan pickup where they tried to add cruise aftermarket. What a nightmare. The music features are nice from the wheel, and I have the bluetooth prep on it as well for when I change out my phone in a couple months. But the cruise feature is the most important. It's nice to be able to move your foot around during longer drives. And it is VERY easy to go a lot faster than you think. I believe it has something to do with looking at the tach in front of you instead of the speed. I think I'm doing 30-40 and I'm actually doing 80-90. (And loving it.) As noted, you can change out your wheels later.

is cruise really that important? I've never had a car without it and almost never wanted it. if i'm on the highway, i'm going as fast as the car in front of me.. and in the city.. umm, the same.

I wished I understood the upgrade to webspoke for $550.00 on the website, I'm getting the crownspokes, but its alright as I was planning on getting aftermarket rims anyways, The thing is this though, when I saw the webs in person I thought to myself "those look like aftermarket wheels already". I'd get them if I could do it again. Maybe you should check out www.tirerack.com and see what they offer. I've seen wheels as low as $129.00 a piece for 17's. I'm looking at either the 17" ASA JH6's or the ASA AR1's, check them out
