In Europe (and in Switzerland specially) this colour is very, very rare. Until now, I haven't seen but a couple of them, mostly waiting to be sold, at the vendor's...
Anyway - I'm happy to join your "club" - as I'm the proud owner of beautiful Betty Boop, my nightfire red MINI COOPER D.

I don't think we met directly... there were 25000 people out there in Silverstone ! but maybe you saw Betty Boop in the parking outside the venue.
The mirror caps "blackjack" I got them at MINI UNITED. I hesitated between those and the United 09 ones but finally chose the blackjack in order to complete with the side scuttles and the internal mirror cap which I had already. I'm very happy with the result.
And MINI UNITED was great too - I really enjoyed every bit of it, including the visit to the MINI assembly line in Oxford.

And by the way - "Bubbles" is such a cute name for a car !

 

hey Betty! Welcome! I was looking at your photos (love the blackjack!) and I couldn't help noticing, is that a D?? If it is, how do you like it? I've heard awesome things, wish they had it in the States XP

yes, it's a D. I really like it ! It's just like any other car. The only difference is that it consumes way less fuel but on the other hand it is noisier than a gas-fueled car. But since I drive a lot (for european standards) to go to work every day (around 120 km, that is, 74 miles), the diesel is a real advantage, since it consumes less. And many European countries have tax incentives for people who buy diesel-fueled cars.

 

I loved MINI United...the biggest for me was a Track Drive in a Coop S! I swear I had tears in my eyes! I took a pic of the only NFR I saw there...but it had hood stripes!

"Bubbles", in the context I used, would only be understood by other Canadians. We have a TV show here called "Trailer Park Boys"...it's about the type of people who live in trailer parks...One of the characters...Bubbles....wears super thick lenses in his glasses...he lives in a shed behind his friend's trailer and his job is to take care of all the cats in the park....When I saw the car, I related the headlights with Bubble's (the TV character) glasses...so, hence the name!

My MINI is "Betty Boop"... for the same reason, I related the MINI's look to the cartoon character's look ! big eyes, red dress, black top.... and sooo sexy

 

The Canadian Bubbles is definitely not sexy..especially in a red dress!

We're in Ohio, Central Ohio. My name is Mike, my fiances name is Thu (pronounced "Two") and our Mini's name is Luckie. No bonnet stripes, 6 spd manual. Cold Weather pkg. Black Mirrors and Roof. Chromed Lining, only outside. Black leather interior.

I will get some pictures ASAP. There are bug splats all over it and I'm waiting for this weekend to detail. I will have them posted as soon as I have them.
