Like I said earlier... I think the issue is MA's having a clue. They're still just car salespeople. Some will have "done their homework", some not.
I went to Mini of Peabody a couple weeks ago to check out some of the R56s they just got in. One of the MA told me "Sparkling Graphite is one of the nicest colors for the R56." Yea... that made my day.
I think it all depends on the dealership. I went to MINI of Towson and the MA told me that they "lock" them when they come in and "unlock" it when cd changer/ipod adaptor are installed. If you know a tech @ a dealership, throw them a $20 and have them "unlock" it for you.
You're giving us all hope that the secret compartment will be there. And a gift on top of that???????
.....as for the gift it is a key chain w/ 5 different flags. pretty kewl. my MA made no big deal or anything, just acted as if it was normal that it should open.
1- the box is not supposed to open. MINI is developing a new release mechanism that will not rattle. there will be a bulletin released to allow the door to open.
2-the box dosnt really "lock". in order to make the modification, a good deal of the dash has to be taken apart...
