I think $600 is about average; I think they charge anywhere from $500-600. Prior to placing the order I tried out the ipod w/ the AUX and it sounded really good. I wouldn't pay that much money just to have it integrated in the radio. If you're unsure, it wouldn't hurt to wait and get it later but it's up to you of course...

Well, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'll stop obsessing and just sit tight. I'm in the middle of finals so it's not like I don't have enough things to worry about.

Good luck everyone!

good point; given that i'll just be loading up my iPod with podcasts and long playlists, i think i'll use the Aux for now ... and upgrade later if i change my mind.

my MA is gonna take some pics ... i'll put 'em up as soon as he sends 'em out. i am not sure when he'll get it ... but it seems like it's close!

Good news!!!

Just spoke w/ my MA!!! He said the car will be going in the VDC tomorrow morning and will probably be out by the afternoon and on a truck

So he said I could probably pick it up in a couple of days if everything goes well...Needless to say - I'm excited!

I had no idea it could be so quick at the VDC. I guess the delay is really just waiting your turn, lol. This is such a funny process. Anyway, I will post pics when I have the car!!!

P.S. - Dave you can buy the 3.5mm cable for the AUX at frys.com for like $2.50. That's like $10 in savings, not much but you can put it in the piggy bank towards the ipod interface if you decide to get it later

awesome news! can't wait to see it once it comes in! it does seem like the VDC time is much faster than it was for my R53 a few years ago.

thanks for the tip on the AUX cable!

Sorry this took a while, but I didn't know how to post pictures and think I finally figured it out. I must say - what I was most concerned about was the HiFi since there were so many here at NAM w/ negative comments, but it sounds great to me for what I listen to - which is about anything! It's probably just the type of thing that varies per person.

So DaveCo - when are you picking up the car???

I'm very happy w/ mine, but I haven't really been able to drive much. It will all change after Monday; I will be a lot less busy.

Well, my photos aren't all that great ... i had a borrowed camera.

But, three days in, it's been a great ride. I'll be taking it down to MOTD this weekend, gotta show it off.

excellent! those both look fantastic. bit of deja vu for me -- i had a CR/B R53 ... so it's great to see that combo in an R56. what's more ... i've got a LiB/B on its way! i really love that color.

is that leatherette on both? i got it too. would love to hear your impressions of it.

my MA (who's at the Dragon!) tells me my MINI should be at the dealership this weekend ... and he's gonna send me a few pics. i'll be sure to pass 'em along. i think i'm gonna get her shipped part way and drive it up to Seattle. can't wait!!

I drove my new LiB/W up to the Dragon and back this weekend, and I liked the leatherette a lot. (There was an R53-er up there who thought they were real leather, I wasn't sure what to say...). The only problem, they seem to look a bit dirty... perhaps it is some kind of stickiness left over from the manufacturing process? I am going to clean them with some of the samples I picked up at the vendor booths and see if that stops the dust-loviness of them.
