Unconnected wire hanging behind right rear wheel
I just noticed an unconnected wire (with a green connector of some type, labeled part # BMW 6 773 555) hanging behind my right rear wheel. I notice that it is a wire that doesn't exist on the other side. Anyone have any idea what it is, whether it should be connected, and if so, where and how to connect it?
Is my ex-wife trying to do me in?
Thanks!!!

Is there another forum where I should post this?
Is there another forum where I should post this, with more mechanic types? If not, I guess I call the service dept at my dealership tomorrow. If they ask me to bring it in, that won't happen for a while though - very busy and lots of traveling the next few weeks.
Thanks for any help.

When you say behind the wheel do you mean back at the bumper? The wheelwell should have liner. If the wire's sticking out from behind that liner, it could be the side marker lamp. Test that by turning on your parking lights, confirming the front side markers are lit, and then check your rear side markers.
Do you have rear foglight(s)? Is your car a Cooper or Cooper S? On the Cooper with a rear foglight, there's a single red lamp in the center of the bumper down low. On the MCS, there are two lamps, one on each side. If you have rear fogs, there will be a separate toggle switch in the center console for it. If you've got the toggle, try turning on lights first and then trying it. If you don't see the red lamp(s) in the rear bumper, then the car is likely prewired for rear fogs, but not having spec'ed them, you're left with a spare plug on your wiring harness.
