How long did it take you to do this and anything special to do it? You need to prime it then paint it or what?

You could never be outdone. Everything you own is the color of your car.

I had an Oxygen Blue MINI pull out on the same street as me today, and while it was thrilling, I don't think it counts as it pulled out of the dealership right around the corner. It was going out for a test drive and I don't think the drivers had quite drunk the Kool-Aid yet. They usually have to get half way around the block at least.

Almost mine..

I went to the dealer to see if mine had arrived since it had been on the road from the VDC to the dealer for 3 days ( It's 450 miles from VDC to dealer.. ). Sure enough, it was up on the roof with a bunch of other new arrivals..

YEOW!!!!! That's one hot MINI!!! I love OB/OB!!!

It was on the roof??? So what in the world did you have to do to get a sneak peek??? Never mind...don't tell me!!!

Actually, an MA snuck me back into the catacombs of the dealership under cover of darkness for a sneak peek at my OB/W. Delivery was the next day. I didn't sleep much that night. You may not either. Very exciting!!!

Thanx G.K.R., I felt like I was committing a crime sneaking up the access ramp to the top. I quickly found my ride ( The only Oxy Blue at the dealer ), and was staring at it in a daze, when my M.A. walks up next to me with another customer and says "What do you think"?. It turns out there was a stairway right next to my Mini that is used to show customers the inventory..

I think the black looks really FIERCE and it needs a little more in my opinion!!
I got to say, your new grill looks stunning. I have ordered this grill myself. I noticed the top half of the grill is now opened up. I am wondering if the plastic piece behind the grill is part of the old grill or part of the top chrome surround piece? For now I plan on keeping the chrome surround but may go to black in the future.

I know!!! You can do so much with stripes or roof graphics with this combo...more than on my OB/W. Of course, when it comes to MINIs, the contrasting roof is a statement in itself.

I dont understand your question. But the second picture I have was before I finished putting in the new grill cause I couldnt remember how to get it off. So the part connected to the bonnet was chrome still but the first picture is all black.

With your black stripes I think it will look really great! I am warning you once you go black you never go back! You are going to get the black out fever and want to do everything!

Ooh, I like that grill.. I'm wondering what it would look like with the trim in OB instead of black? I like the black, but in OB, it seems it would almost have the old Jag E-type snout look to it ( With the trim around the headlights in OB as well of course ).

As for mine, my plan is ( was? ) to keep it as is, possibly doing coil-overs and in the process lowering it 1" in front, .75" in back. There's way more open space around the wheels than I planned on. If I had the dough I'd slap on 17" Rota RB's.. but I'll never sneak that by the Mrs.

Now I'm thinking two wide white stripes, centered, ala' Viper style. Then a very sick thought entered my mind, an Offset pair of stripes, one 3" wide, the second 1" wide, like the pinstriping done by 60's hotrodder's to emulate what was then the standard on surfboards at the time.

Yes, I've gone mad. I blame it on the wait for the delivery..

Sorry, forgot the spec's..

It's a plain Jane.. The only thing I added was the sport package. If I did get fog lights, they gave them to me.. I think, as they don't list fog lights being included in the sport package.. I figured those lower lights were addtional running lights on the new model. To be honest, I was kicking myself after placing my order for not including fog lights ( at least in back ), because I live in Pacific Grove, the next town south of Monterey, and as some of you know, we get a wee bit of the soup here.

I think either having the black out or OB out on the car would look good on yours! The grill was not that hard to install and was reasonable too! Outmotoring has a lot of great things to buy aftermarket.

Bill where did you buy your Mini from?

That's ok, I'll find out myself in another week or 2. I just noticed that on your top picture you can see the entire radiator or it looks that way. If you look through a cooper chrome grill you will see that the top two thirds of the grill is blocked. Very noticeable if you pop the bonnet or try to slide your fingers between the top slats.

You're right...the JCW (and MCS, I believe) grill is different in that way.

Hi Dory,

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, been trying to get some ducks in a row. I ordered my Mini from Mini of Mountain View. I'm picking it up tomorrow.. Oh Boy!

I'm rethinking the grill trim, that Outmotoring grill/blackout trim of yours is really growing on me. Until seeing the pic in this post I had planned to wrap the stock grill slats in OB vinyl. That's out the window now.

So many options, so little money
