So Does The Novelty Wear Off ?
I drive about 80 miles round trip to work each day and had been driving a full size pick up and need to get something better on gas.
I have always been into performance cars and think the MINI is a great value for the $$.
I am considering buying a 2007 CR S and getting rid of my truck. In past, I would get tired of cars in a few years and and even though I have had my truck for over 3 years, I still enjoy driving it. I just want to make sure I have the same experience with the MINI.

Not tired yet
I drive about 70 miles round trip to the office each day plus the mini is my company car so I take longer trips frequently. I can't say I am tired of it yet, going on 60K. I do, however, have my supercrew in the garage for getting the boat to the lake so the mini is not my only transportation.

Some people thing I'm nuts for getting rid of my 2005 Lotus Elise for a MCS. Talk about a car that the novelty can ware off? Try getting in and out of it every day. Then there is the lack of any king of creator comforts. You think the MINI has a small boot, ha! With the top off and in the trunk you'd better not take anything bigger than a business card with you. Those that wine about cubbies and storage lacking in a MINI. How about no glove box or arm rest. The only great thing the Lotus does well is corner, but from what I understand the MINI is no slacker.
Anyway my .02$

My 2003 MINI Cooper S was totaled around a month ago. I knew I'd get insurance money so the search was on for another car. I thought about maybe getting a GTI, or even a GTO, or Mustang. However, those ideas quickly slipped away as I found another beautiful MINI, this time a 2006 S. I still love MINIs even after over a year and a half of ownership.
The real thing a MINI can make you do over anything else is smile time after time again...

Gotta give a hand to MINI advertising too. They put a lot
into keeping us MINI owners happy and interested.
(the secret black box, the billboard keyfob, cool stickers
in magazine ads, etc) They know how to make owning a
MINI a unique experience thats unlike any other car you
could ever own.

At 55, I've had many cars. None for more than 2 years until MINI came along. I'm now on my 3rd MINI, I kept the 2nd which I've had for 3 years now. I had to drive a Hinda for a while and every day it screamed 'I'm NOT an MINI'.
So, no, for me, the novelty never wore off. I still grin every time I drive a MINI.

The 1st year and a half I drove my MINI almost 100 miles a day just work to home, plus a couple extra trips when I forgot something at home or needed to go back to work for something. Now I live about a mile and a half, from work and most mornings I miss my drive!! Now I just go out and try to get lost more often. I have even had to turn the GPS on a time or two cause I had no idea where I was. even though it is better to drive nowhere than to work. I miss having my morning drive to look forward to
Novelty doesnt wear off. The grin just gets a little smaller but there is a simple cure... MOD

BEFORE OR AFTER??
Are you asking this question BEFORE or AFTER driving one? If the answer is BEFORE...they're in the dealerships, so go drive one and see what you think. How close you are to a dealer might affect your choice, too.
