I heard back from Alex. He didn't comment on performance, but said the best ride and noise quality as follows:

Michelin Pilot Exhalto PE2
Pirelli PZero Nero MS
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

I asked about the Pirelli Nero. He added the MS.

Well there you have it. $144 difference is for improved ride and lower noise for daily driving. Certainly that can be important to some owners.

For performance I'd guess
Goodyear GS-D3 best
PE2 close
PZero MS trailing

For long treadlife
PZero far better
GS-D3 and PE2 close to each other

For sheer fun factor
GS-D3
PE2 close
