Few impressions of the new car

I can't believe what a go-kart feel it has also there is no rattles, squeaks. hopefully it stays that way. The plastic pieces look a little cheap but the lounge leather makes up for it, fit and finish is not bad.Has the same BMW new car smell. The exhaust sounds pretty good. It gets lots of looks. now I got the car for the wife. but want to drive it more than my M5 since it has more of a fun factor. can't wait to get it above 4500 rpm after break in. why did they not put a temp guage. and I want to change the oil after 3000 but cannot find the capacity/spec in the manual anyone know how much oil it takes? and what oil is best?
TIA

You're kidding, right? I had mine to the red line leaving the dealer's parking lot.

Don't we all. Mini insists it's OK to keep the original oil for 15-20,000 miles. I made it to 5,000 myself. Use the OEM Mini filter and Castrol. My dealer uses Syntec, but I used Castrol's new "Edge" which is guaranteed for 15,000 miles, whereas Syntec is not. I can't remember the amount, and you won't find it in your manual, but start with four qts. and go from there. Seems i remember putting in 4.5 qts, but I'm not sure.

Lovely car...I ordered the exact same configuration but a 2010. MINI just finished the build, and I can't wait to get him home!

MINI Oil from your Dealer is best deal at $6.20 Qt and it takes 4.5 Qt.

Filter kit (w/'crush-ring' for drain plug and 'O'-Ring) is best ordered on-line, but be sure it is the exact MINI p/n 11-42-7-557-012 Kit.

http://www.waymotorworks.com/product...cat=377&page=1

Need 8mm Hex for Drain Plug and 27mm (or 1 & 1/16") Socket for filter.

Good choice , I see you picked some nice wheels please post pic's when you get it. better wheels than mine I had no option. The hot chocolate lounge leather is very sharp.

She's a beaut!

I changed my initial oil and filter at 1800 miles. I bought the oil from the dealer.

I also changed the manual transmission fluid at 1800 miles and replaced it with Red Line MTL. Shifting was even better than before...and it was good from the start.

I plan on changing oil every 7,500 miles. Make sure to not overfill the MINI or you can have problems. I put in 4 quarts and then carefully added the rest (total was about 4.5 quarts) but don't overdo it.

Happy Motoring
