Convertible top issues, again
After having the complete top replaced a few months ago, the plastic header above the driver/passenger needed replacing.
Then the rubber trim along edge of the rear of the top started to peel back.
I had not had time to get the car to the dealer, and then last week the top didn't seat right when returning the top to the close position.
Now the dealer is replacing the sunroof mechanism, and the rubber trim!
Who/how do I complain to at Mini USA?
When I had the loaner last week, people were asking "Oh your car is back in for service?"
Not very good Mini advertising.

Lemon Law
I really wasn't going to make a big deal of it here on the forum, and feel free to send me a personal email, thru our company website or here, zapcolor.com.
But Mini did buy my car back under the Lemon Law, they would not do it unfortunately nicely, asking them direct, they refused and said "the convertible top is an accessory" albeit one they charge quite a bit for and the last time they replaced the complete top, virtually the entire interior of my car was out!
I used a lawyer that specializes in lemon law here in CA, William McGee 800-225-3666. Only talked to him once personally, but they did an outstanding job, there is paperwork involved and as long as you get it back to them, it is pretty painless. Not sure what state you are in?
If in CA, I would definitely recommend their firm.
They started approx June 8th, we heard confirmation June 28th, and received a check on July 22nd for complete costs for the year we owned the car.
In the meantime I had ordered a 328 hardtop convertible which cam in one day after the check. The dealer ordered it knowing I may not take the car and it was a different dealer than the Mini.
If I can be of more help, let me know.
I can't say anything bad about Mini or BMW, we have owned a BMW since a 1970 2002 (new) this was our 2nd Mini, and have pretty much owned everything in between, 3's, 5's, 635, 735, etc.
Sometimes you get a bad car and they lived up to my expectations, it would have saved them money.

Thanks
Thanks for all of the information. I appreciate it. I am in Florida, so unfortunately your attorney won't help. But this week I am starting the process for filing lemon law. No one at the company has done anything to help. Did you send a letter to the manufacturer? Any information you can give me would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Unfortunately, the corporation isn't doing anything at all. So the lemon law has become my only option. The only thing they offered me was one months payment if I signed a waiver releasing them of all responsiblility. Do they think I am an idiot! Its sad to think that the one car I have always dreamed of owning has become my biggest nightmare. I have no love left for the mini, nor do any of my friends. I'll let you know how the lemon law goes.

Any Update?
Any update? I just took delivery of my MINI and the top won't go up. It has been stuck done 3 times now and then it finally goes up, after at least an hour of trying, waiting and repeating untill it works. The last time it happened I was over 200 miles from home on vaction. I took it to the dealer today and the said they will figure it out. I hope so...and fast.
