Rattling/squeaking rear quarter windows
Hi all, just got my new (to me) 2010 JCW vert. Driving today I noticed a lot of rattling from the rear. I dropped the rear quarter windows an inch and it stopped. Guess it's rubbing or bumping at the top of the window itself. Anyone have a good solution for fixing this? I'm coming off a Mercedes C63 without nary a rattle or squeak so this is eye opening for me. LOL.

Wipe the inside and outside of the rubber seals with a paper towel. You'll be amazed how filthy they are. After I cleaned mine a few weeks ago they quieted down quite a bit. Also, get yourself some of this: http://www.1z-usa.com/einszett_gummi_pflege.html and apply to all the rubber seals - this for sure works.

I found a dramatic improvement when I used BMW's own Silicone Remover recommended by my dealer's parts guy - spray it on the seal and wipe off. It may seem illogical but it helps the seals and the body stick to each other and so makes the seal flex rather than slip and squeak. Won't do anything for rattles though.
