Convertible top care

I bought a Gorilla Detail groupon. Full detail. When I called them to add a rim repair, they offered to throw in their convertible top care for free.

Fast forward, my top was just replaced (under warranty). Should I have this convertible top care done, or will it harm my brand new top?

I'm using the Groupon shortly.

Thanks

Canvas care needs to be done regularly. I'd recommend either Ragg Topp or 303 and do it yourself. Don't run the top down when it's dirty as grit will eventually cut the fabric.

Yes, but should I have them do it to a brand new top? Or am I causing myself future trouble?

Treat once to twice a year and it will bead up when you apply the Repellent. very similar to the 303 product.

83192339689 & 83192339697 in stock right now. MINI Branded.

and

Soft Top Repellent - 8oz

On a brand new top the protection is great and keep it looking new.

Other options as the MINI stuff went nla

Looks like a good alternative, Scott. Just like a lot of guys, me included, won't let the dealerships clean their cars for them, I'd rather take total control of canvas care. You never know what kind of a mood the shop guy is in.

The new convertible top should already come with a coating applied to it at the factory and that is good for several months, depending on weather conditions, if you park outside, etc.

A professional detailer should know what they are doing and will properly clean and seal your new soft top, so no harm there. But it is your responsibility to clean your soft top regularly with car wash soap and a SOFT brush whenever you are washing the entire vehicle. Agitate gently, don't scrub, and rinse thoroughly.

After several months, you should do a thorough cleaning with an approved soft top cleaner, and then seal with an approved soft top protectant.

Checkout YouTube for Convertible Top Care and you will get a bunch of videos on the proper way to clean and protect your soft top.
