Mini was set up out side of the Directors Guild in L.A. Today and had the new Coupe on display. I grabbed these with my cell phone

The reps there indicated that the roadster would be out in February. The car really looks nicer in person than in pictures - really it does.

 

Maybe I will like it better "in person" but as for now "I do not like it Sam i Am!!!"

 

Black on black for me (since that is the only matching roof combination that I understand is available). I LIKES IT!!!

 

Nice pics. I hated the coupe when the concept images were first released, but the little bugger's growing on me. I'd still hold out for the roadster.

I think it's a great looking Mini. Every review says it looks better in person than in pics. I'm thinking about getting one of these cars. If you can get the aero kit that would be hot. The 3rd pic here is what's behind the seats separating the boot from the cabin. Looks like they have 4 speakers there, which could be pretty good for the sound system.

There probably won't be a 2013 JCW. The 2013 Mini will be completely redone (like the R56 was), named the "F56", and there probably won't be a JCW version of that car for a couple years I'm guessing. It will reportedly have a 3 cylinder engine.

No they probably will still sell the R56 model cars even after the F56 is released. I just don't know which ones will be discontinued (besides the hatchback). You would think they'd stop production of some of them. When the 2007 R56 models came out they only make the hatch and the cabrio. They sold the old cabrio for like 2 years I think. Now they make those 2 plus the Clubman, Coutryman, JCW, Coupe, and Roadster (soon). That's a lot of "old" models to make while you're spooling up for the new versions.

 

Had a listen today to the HK system in the new Coupe - blasting. Well placed rear speakers. Very satisfying.

I'm hoping for a late model 2012 or 2013 R58 in JCW trim, I just want the coupe Not that I wouldn't say yes to the hatchback...

 

I keep hoping each picture I see that it will grow on me or maybe that the pics I saw previously were just bad photos....nope

It's hideous. They coulda really made this thing cool...but its like they spent all of an hour designing it. The took an R56 and chopped the roof off, and in the process made it look 20 times worse.

That is the one thing that just seems hard to understand - how much better in person the car looks than in photos - you really need to see the car in person.

I keep thinking they accidentally rolled a hatchback and then made a new roof with the leftover scrap metal in the shop.

Love everything but the red roof. I'm really not sure what the obsession with making your car look like Christmas is.
